What a quick google translation or I can tell you is “Life is beautiful to see Italy”. A Girl and A World most recent posts have been in America, but the truly facisnating locations are the places where we can date back to the early civilatizons. And yes I’m talking about the Roman Empire. I have studied this century and it engages me everyday. Before you ask, no I won’t bore you with the whole story. Even though I encourage you to dig deep into history, I would like for you to not fall asleep while you read this. I will hit some important spots, so when you finally see Italy you won’t be totally lost.

Roman Republic– 753 BC – The city of Rome is founded. Legend has it that the twin sons of Mars, the god of war, named Romulus and Remus founded the city. Romulus killed Remus and became ruler of Rome and named the city after himself. Rome was ruled by kings for the next 240 years. -509 BC – Rome becomes a republic. The last king is overthrown and Rome is now ruled by elected officials called senators. There is a constitution with laws and a complex republican government.- 218 BC – Hannibal invades Italy. Hannibal leads the Carthage army in his famous crossing of the Alps to attack Rome. This is part of the Second Punic war.-73 BC – Spartacus the gladiator leads the slaves in an uprising.
End of Roman Republic/Start of Roman Empire– 45 BC – Julius Caesar becomes the first dictator of Rome. Caesar makes his famous Crossing of the Rubicon and defeats Pompey in a civil war to become the supreme ruler of Rome. This signals the end of the Roman Republic. 44 BC – Julius Caesar is assassinated on the Ides
of March by Marcus Brutus. They hope to bring back the republic, but civil war breaks out. 27 BC – The Roman Empire begins as Caesar Augustus becomes the first Roman Emperor. 64 AD – Much of Rome burns. Legend has it that Emperor Nero watched the city burn while playing 80 AD – The Coliseum is built. One of the great
examples of Roman engineering is finished. It canseat 50,000 spectators. The Height of the Roman Empire 121 AD – The Hadrian Wall is built. To keep out the barbarians a long wall is built across northern England. 306 AD – Constantine becomes Emperor. Constantine would convert to Christianity and Rome would become a Christian empire. Prior to this Rome persecuted the Christians. 380 AD – Theodosius I declares Christianity to be the sole religion of the Roman Empire. 395 AD – Rome splits into two empires.
The Fall of Rome– 410 AD – The Visigoths sack Rome. This is the first time in 800 years that the city of Rome has fallen to an enemy. 476 AD – The end of the Western Roman Empire and the fall of Ancient Rome. The last Roman Emperor Romulus Augustus is defeated by the German Goth Odoacer. This signals the start of the Dark Ages in Europe. 1453 AD – The Byzantine Empire comes to an end as it falls to the Ottoman Empire.” -https://www.ssag.sk/studovna/files/Roman-Empire-and-Republic-Timeline.pdf

Rome the capital of Italy has lots of ancient articfacts. The coloseum, pantheon, sistine chapel, and many others. I can’t get over the fact that they still stand. Centuries later, the buildings still stand. One thing I have heard around my recent studies is that the roman empire was so ahead of its time that they had to erase all of there research. Some state that even in the year 2024, the Roman Education was still ahead of us. It’s sad to hear that it was discarded. But you have to understand the state of the Roman Empire. The civilation was bound to collapse.

They worked extremly hard to build the empire from the ground up. They valued education and work. The perfect balance in life. Later on, the coloseum began runing and it filled up each day. The olympics was created. The econemy was surrounded and focused on entertaniment. Instead of working they watched. The whole year they would go party and work once a week. No one worked, and everyone consumed. Not even to add to the fact that a Rome life was rich. With no money going in the empire they lost value. People couldnt sustain there family. And at the weak point, someone swipped in and destroyed the beautiful city. If you were to ask me, the civilation was created to collapse.

What makes me so amazed is the passion they had in there work. Trust me Rome was not built over night. The citizens had to wake up every morning and put there sweat blood and tears into the city. The passion to create something astonishing was what drove them each day. That’s where the phrase “Rome was not built over night” was founded. Why I brought this into the blog, is for you to understand the Italians. The passion drives the country and you can see that by just walking the streets of the ancestors. It’s a beautiful place.
