You are sure to have a good time in this city. All events from Broadway shows to walks around Central Park can be exciting. Something for everyone can be found in New York City. Its variety of names shows the inclusivity of events for all to enjoy. Including the Big Apple, Empire City, Concrete Jungle, the City that Never Sleeps, and even the Melting Pot. Nevertheless, they all bring together this wonderful city.

If it’s your first time in the city I would recommend many things. To begin be prepared to walk, the subways and trains lead you anywhere. Bikes and scooters can be another option. But there is no need for car rentals or Uber, subway is the best if you want the full experience. Another reason is the traffic jams in each corner. To save the precious time we have in this jungle, it’s better off to adventure into the subway/trains. Following this recommendation, it is important to have subway etiquette. No one appreciates that one person who is in their world. That being said, in a subway station allow all riders on the current sub to get off before you attempt to get on. Next, acknowledge if someone else requires the seat you are sitting at. Offer your seat for pregnant ladies, young kids, disabled humans, and the elderly. To continue, don’t clog the line. Be quick and know where you’re going. It’s ok to need help with locations but curtosly step to a side and ask subway workers. “Courtesy is contagious, and it begins with you.”- New York Metro Transit Motto. Next, bring spare money. Most local shops or food trucks only accept cash so it’s nice to have it handy. Lastly is the most common recommendation. Be safe, keep all belongings close to you, and don’t go where you don’t belong. New York is fun so enjoy it.

Arrive/Departure: A drive is an option but it is not the greatest choice. The gas money might not add up to the cost of a plane ticket, but parking sure will. At the least, hotel overnight parking is $30 per night. Not including parking during the day. Plane rides are not cheap but if you catch the airline industry at a good time, you’ll be sure to grab some good tickets. The average cost of a plane ticket per person is $250.

Transportation: Subway tickets are $2.90. Car rentals can range from $50 to $400 per day. Bikes are used by hour so depending on the time spent, they will charge you.

Housing: The best selection of hotels near Times Square and Central Park are The Muse New York, Hotel Edison Times Square, Park Central, and The Peral Hotel. My best pick would be the Muse New York because of the great location they offer and the views you get. While that can get pricey, some of the better options are the Chelsea Pines Inn and Harbor House Bed and Breakfast. Inn’s can be good for traveling because you have a nice place to return to, and the owners are more than happy to share the best-hidden gems.

Must-Try Food: Liebman Deli, Roberto’s, Gage and Tollner, Gramercy Tavern, and Rezdora are some of the best-rated and most commonly eaten places in the city. While nothing beats an old-fashioned street food truck.
